Accessory work is always a good workout, the pace is quick and furious and the CNS load is minimal so you can really go all out and blast yourself into a pile of swole mush.
I count my overhead press as an accessory lift because its building up my shoulders to assist my bench press, and even though I am using the 5/3/1 program for this lift, the end goal is still to increase the bench. Â Doing the press the day after ME bench will cause the press numbers to suffer, but such is life.
